A Little Extra Padding And Online Dating

By Gary Kelly Forty million single people log on to online dating sites each and every month. Chances are some of those people are jerks or lie about their appearance. We have all heard stories of gross misrepresentation. What the hell does a little extra padding mean anyway? I went for coffee one time with a woman I met online. She described herself as beautiful and blonde with a little extra padding as a result of having a child. Beauty is very subjective but the fact she thought of herself as beautiful was fine by me. After all, a person has to be very ugly for a coffee to become unbearable. Blonde was OK by me as well, except she forgot to mention she bought it. Actually she wasnt really blonde but more of a light shade of mud. A little extra padding is where it all came off the rails. Had I gone to a movie with this lady, she would have struggled to squat her behind in the chair. Quite honestly this lady had more than a little extra padding. She was obese times three. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying Im perfect or in great shape. I am 5 9 and I weigh one hundred and eighty pounds. According to BMI calculations, I am on the high side of normal weight or the low side of obese. This lady was grossly overweight not that theres anything wrong with that. But the fact she lied about it, is what I found so offensive. One of the sexiest women I have ever met was overweight. She could easily stand to loose thirty or forty pounds but she oozed sexuality. She was all class, well put together and the total package. I have nothing against overweight people but I was expecting one thing and got something completely different. Because I felt as though she lied to me, I didnt see blonde colored hair I saw mud color instead. I didnt see beautiful, I saw ugly. She seemed like a nice person but I felt she really pulled a fast one on me. All of this could have been avoided if she had posted her picture. More importantly, I should have insisted on seeing her picture. I learned a very valuable lesson while having coffee that day. I now refuse to meet any woman unless I see her picture first. Im not saying Im all that but I think showing someone else your picture is a good start. Across all online dating websites, it has been consistently shown that men and women who post their picture in their profile are far more likely to have contact from other members. By seeing a picture first, you certainly can avoid disappointment later on. Paving Stones

By Matthew Anthony Imagine a beautiful pattern of paving stones as the central focus of your new patio. Stone circle kits are one of the most popular new products offered by suppliers of flagstones and pavers for patios. Stone pavers, such as sandstone paving slabs offer a wide range of beautiful styles and colors and can be the basis of an inviting and classic patio that is one of the most-used areas of your home. Traditionally, the paving stones used in the construction of patios, drives and walkways have been York stone - stone cut from the quarries in York - granite, slate and sandstone. The increasing availability of imported stones from markets in India, China and Brazil have added some intriguing and stunning patterns and colors to the tried and true and still popular native stones. Because of the low cost of labor to quarry those stones, natural stone paving is as affordable as concrete and aggregate paving slabs, and natural stone patios have been rising in popularity over the past two decades. Laying a stonework patio has become a popular do-it-yourself weekend project for homeowners. While patios made of concrete paving stone are as easy as assembling a jigsaw puzzle (and a not very challenging one at that), working with natural stone flags and slabs is far more challenging. The irregular thicknesses and rough edges of natural stone don’t come with pre-set spacer bars to help you determine how far apart to lay stones, or pre-stamped with a symmetrical pattern. Rather than this being a discouragement, though, many homeowners find the prospect of creating a natural flagstone patio a challenge, and a well-made patio an accomplishment in which they can take pride for years to come. The homeowner who wants to try his or her hand at creating a unique patio floor will find plenty of information on how to lay paving stones, as well as patterns for some of the more popular accents and styles at many manufacturers’ and DIY web sites. Choosing a Pattern for Your Stonework The pattern you choose should be one that makes the most of the space that is to be paved. A narrow walkway or path through a garden, for instance, won’t display the intricate beauty of a sweeping fan as well as the wider expanse of a full patio, while a patio can be as simple as an evenly spaced coursed pattern or as intricate as a tiled mosaic circle set into a squared frame. The pattern you choose should also take into account the color and style of stone that you’ve chosen. The top surface of your stones may be sawn, riven or naturally domed. A polished sawn stone lends itself naturally to more intricate patterns that rely as much on color as laying pattern. A riven stone lends a more rustic look to your patterns, and reclaimed stones offer the time-worn look of casual elegance. Whether you choose newly quarried stones or reclaimed, cobbles, flags or sets, limestone, sandstone, slate or York stone, nothing compares with the timeless beauty of real stone. Matthew Anthony contributes to gardening sites such as paving stones and garden furniture. Marketing is More than Advertising-Get Better Results by Knowing the Difference

By Kevin Stirtz Too many small business owners focus on advertising as the only way to generate new business. Before you buy any advertising, you should know what you’re trying to accomplish. That goal comes from your overall marketing plan. Let’s back up a moment. Start with your business goals. What would you like to accomplish this year? If you want 20% growth in revenue and a similar growth in profits then you’ll need more sales. You’ll need to attract new customers or get additional sales from existing customers. Either way, marketing is what will help you reach your goals. Marketing is all about figuring out who you want to do business with and sending the right message to them so they will want to do business with you. It helps you create awareness of your product, service or brand among your target market, so they believe you can help them accomplish their goals (as they relate to your product or service). Advertising is just one way to deliver your message. Depending on your specific business, you could have hundreds of ways to reach your target market. The best marketing puts your message in front of your audience in a variety of ways. The more ways someone hears about your business, the more they will remember you and the more credible your message is. Try to find at least five different ways to deliver your message to your target audience. Remember, your marketing system exists to deliver exposure. It exposes your target market (your audience) to your message. Your goal is to obtain as much exposure as possible within your budget. If you have a huge budget then you have a lot of options. If you have a small budget, then you have fewer options. No matter what your budget is though, you should look at different options to deliver your message. So, plan your marketing expenditures and think of them in terms of buying exposure. Make them all work together to get better results. —————————- More customers! More revenue! More profits! That’s what Kevin Stirtz helps companies create. Kevin is a business growth expert who helps people improve their companies. Rental Contracts

By Jimmy Sturo A rental contract is a written or oral agreement between a landlord and a renter or tenant. A rental contract creates the legal relationship between the two parties. A renter has to abide by the rules specified in the agreement, without being in any way harmful to the premises or the neighbors, as per most of the rental contracts. The terms and conditions of a rental contract are subject to the local jurisdictions, statutes, and ordinances. If you are about to sign a rental agreement, the first thing to do would be to go through the agreement very carefully. Remember that it is a legal document and you cannot take it lightly. It is always preferable that you interpret your rental contract with the help of a lawyer, who may be able to understand it better. Another thing with rental contract is that you should never enter into an oral agreement. This can cause problems later on, if one party were to interpret the agreement differently from the other. It is always advisable to have rental agreement is in writing. Generally speaking, rental contracts fall under two categories; fixed term rental contracts and periodic or month to month agreements, with each having its own advantages. Most rental agreements are of the fixed type. They allow the renter to occupy the premise for a specific period of time. They usually include sub clauses with rules governing what should be done if the renter had to vacate the premises before the expiry of the contract. Periodic agreement too has its own advantages, one of them being that it is flexible. A renter can, say for instance, terminate the agreement at any point of time when he desires. Landlords too can do the same and could even raise the rent as and when they wish. Whether you are a landlord or a renter looking for shelter, it is important that you are armed with at least the basics of rental contracts, before you sign an agreement. You can find great information on rental contracts by visiting online resources dedicated to the subject. Contracts provides detailed information on Contracts, Business Contracts, Legal Contracts, Employment Contracts and more. Contracts is affiliated with Divorce Legal Forms. Market Research

By Sandro Azzopardi What makes a market research survey a good survey? There is no simple answer to this question, and it is not one aspect, but various aspects together that make for a good piece of research. Indeed, market research is very much a balancing act where the researcher often has to deal with decisions that have conflicting consequences. The researcher needs to balance out the various elements to ensure that much of what is gained on the swings is not lost on the roundabouts. This, after all, is what the research process is all about, and involves a dedicated attempt at reducing error, in the knowledge that one can never eliminate error completely. Many devote much attention to sampling issues yet paper over questionnaire issues that are often a much larger source of error. This article starts by looking at two important sampling issues and then proceeds to consider two other issues in questionnaire design that often receive scant attention. Sampling Concerns Whenever one is asked to undertake research, one of the first issues that tends to crop up is that of sample size. At least two aspects need to be highlighted in sample size considerations. First, are the results of the sample to be generalised to an entire population? This sounds like a trivial question and a somewhat shocked ‘of course’ refrain is to be expected. However, the corollary to this is, with what degree of accuracy and confidence do you want this to happen? Here lies the rub because these are researcher or management decisions and on this basis one can justify a wide range of sample sizes! In fact, more often than not, statistical considerations for sample size determination are of secondary importance. A more relevant question to ask for sample size determination is perhaps what is the intended use of the findings? Will they be used to make a critical decision; as part of a PR exercise; or is it just a case of a ‘nice to know’ situation? Only the first objective is likely to require a representative sample. However, irrespective of sample size it is very desirable that a random sample is collected as this allows for statistical analysis of the data. Any random sample, even if the sample is not generalisable, can be analysed statistically. Moreover, there is nothing wrong with findings from a sample that are not generalisable as long as the conclusions are clearly bounded by the limitations of the sample. A second aspect concerning sample size that is useful to consider relates to what type of analysis it is intended to undertake with the data collected, so as to answer your research question or questions. The size of the sample may seriously limit what analysis is possible to undertake. Different research issues or models will demand different statistical analytical tools and different sample size requirements to ensure the robustness of the analysis. For example, a multiple stage model involving constructs or concepts affecting another concept or concepts that in tum affect some other concept would require a particular analytical technique like structural equation modelling. Such models are by no means far fetched and represent the type of situation encountered in trying to understand consumer decision making processes. Often they are best handled with structural equation modelling that has its own sample size requirement irrespective of generalisability issues. Indeed too large a sample may give a wrong answer because the statistical technique may be oversensitive with large samples. This may sound a little daunting if all the research that one has come across consists of percentages. But, there is more to good research than percentages. Indeed, percentage type analysis and results are often the outcomes of a decision the researcher would have made about the data collection employed in the questionnaire used. Pitfalls of Questionnaire Development There is no doubt that sample size has its importance in the research process but there is much more to be concerned about besides issues of sample size. Let me start by dispelling one myth that always sends a shiver up my spine. This is the idea that anybody can sit down and write a good questionnaire. Yes of course anybody can put together a questionnaire and there is nothing stopping anyone using it either. The emphasis in my statement is however is on a good questionnaire. Since this is not the place to go into the intricacies of questionnaire development, I will only underline two aspects to show how much is often overlooked. I will start by first highlighting how one goes about seeking to capture a concept when designing a questionnaire. What a researcher is often trying to do when conducting market or management research is to capture something that resides in the respondent’s mind or black box as it is sometimes called. It is by no means an easy feat and is often not likely to be achieved by simply asking a single question. A useful analogy is of the lecturer trying to capture student knowledge about a subject. A lecturer would normally seek to determine student knowledge by asking more than one question to capture the knowledge concept. If one asks a student just one question one may have hit the one area that the student just did not study. However, if one asks a couple of questions on different aspects of knowledge the student was supposed to have learned and it turns up dry then one is far safer in drawing conclusions about the student’s knowledge. An analogous multi-question procedure is similarly worthwhile to pursue in questionnaire development to capture concepts like service quality, loyalty, etc., that are similarly resident in the respondent’s black box. Therefore a basic principle in questionnaire design is for the researcher to ask a battery of questions to capture each of the intended concepts. A related issue concerns the type of data that is collected by each question in a questionnaire or research instrument, as it is often called. In simple terms it is often sensible to avoid the yes/no type of questions as these are generally simplistic, not good at capturing constructs and limit what statistical analysis and testing one can or cannot undertake. Wherever possible it is useful to use scales as these allow for more capture of variance, wider statistical analysis and testing and ultimately more useful conclusions. A second important aspect to do with questionnaires concerns issues of validity and reliability of the research instrument. This is one aspect that often receives limited attention, yet it is a major source of error. Throughout I have used the terms research instrument and questionnaires interchangeably because in the social sciences and in management research, questionnaires are our instruments and are equivalent to the thermometers, spectrometers and what have you that are used in the physical sciences. Like these instruments, our questionnaires must meet two basic requirements - they must be valid and reliable. Using the thermometer idea, the user of such an instrument would want to be confident that it provides the same reading when used among healthy individuals and therefore the instrument can be said to be reliable. In addition, you want to be sure that it is valid and is measuring what it is supposed to be measuring which in this example is clearly temperature. That a thermometer measures temperature is fairly self-evident but this aspect is not always so clear. Using the earlier example of testing student knowledge it could be argued that rather than capture knowledge, the instrument used in the form of tests and exams are really capturing the student’s recall ability. This is a legitimate validity concern. Validity and reliability appear trivial in the case of the thermometer but less so in the case of tests to capture student knowledge and far less so when the researcher is seeking to capture marketing or management constructs. Here, concepts like service quality, value, satisfaction, loyalty and so on, are demanding to conceptualise and to convert to questionnaires (termed operationalisation). Testing for validity and reliability is often limited in much of the commercial research that one encounters, however it is critical if worthwhile conclusions and directions for management decision making are to be indicated. Both validity and reliability can be tested statistically and supported if they are within established parameters of acceptance. Indeed validity is not an absolute but a question of degree. Some questionnaires are more valid than others. Yet, many are neither valid nor reliable, rendering any conclusions drawn from the data dubious. Developing a good questionnaire to capture a concept, be that concept brand personality, service quality or one of the many other concepts we use in marketing and management, is often a full Ph.D. dissertation. It requires pursuing a demanding process involving more than one data collection exercise allowing for the testing of the questions used to capture the concept of interest, as well as the testing and retesting of the instrument’s reliability and different aspects of its validity. I have seen too many questionnaires that seek to capture constructs by asking one or a few ‘off the head’ questions. Such an approach is hardly a solid basis for strong and meaningful data capture, analyses and recommendations for decision making by management. This article has sought to highlight some of the complexities that are papered over and that can introduce considerable error. Many show extreme concern over sample size issues and pay little attention to questionnaire issues that are often a much larger source of error. Rigorous research is undoubtedly challenging. Yet, faced with what at first hand may seem like insurmountable complexity, determination is required to avoid sliding back into doubtful past practices. If one is to spend time, money or both on research this is an appeal to use tried and tested instruments and invest some effort in undertaking analysis that goes beyond the provision of a few percentages. Done properly, survey research represents an indispensable tool that can provide useful inputs to management’s decision making process. Remission in Patients with Depression is Possible, But Hard to Sustain

By Charles Donovan Patients who recover from a major depressive episode are at high of a relapse according to a study released by the National Institute of Mental Health. This is why it is critical for patients to not only sustain the response, but to be vigilant about staying well by strictly following the doctor’s long term treatment plan. Findings from the latest phase of the National Institute of Mental Health’s STAR*D (Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression) study indicate that patients who require multiple antidepressant drug trials to reach remission not only have significantly higher rates of relapse but also relapse sooner, compared with patients who require only one or two drug trials. Nonetheless, with persistence, about two-thirds of people with depression can reach remission if they are willing to try different medications. I fully appreciated and understood the ramifications of this five year study. This latest report, which appeared in the November American Journal of Psychiatry, is the 38th article on STAR*D published in peer-reviewed journals. It details the outcomes of the series of acute treatment steps that patients took to be well enough to progress to follow-up or maintenance treatment. Because the report connects acute treatment outcomes to longer-term prognosis in a well-characterized patient population of more than 3,600 patients, it may end up being one of the most important ever published on the treatment of major depression. The study was conducted at 41 clinical sites; 18 provided primary care, while 23 provide psychiatric care. The results of the successive treatment steps have been reported previously (Psychiatric News, January 20, April 21, July 7, September 15). In the latest report, researchers consolidated an enormous amount of data on 3,671 patients who entered the protocol at the first step and their subsequent quest for remission through the four potential treatment steps. Here are a few details about this landmark national study. All of the study patients started the study in step 1, taking citalopram (Celexa). Those who did not do well on citalopram could progress to step 2, which involved either switching to a different antidepressant or augmenting citalopram with a second drug. For those who still were not well enough to enter follow-up, step 3 again offered a switch to a different antidepressant or augmentation of the patients’ step 2 drug regimen. Step 4 offered a final opportunity to switch medications or augment a patients’ step 3 regimen. Each of the individual steps in the protocol lasted for up to 14 weeks, and the follow-up phase of the study lasted for 12 months. Sicker Patients Need More Steps Patients with more severe depression, greater general medical or psychiatric comorbidity, and chronicity made up the group that needed more treatment steps” to reach follow-upeither by achieving remission or at least a meaningful improvement with acceptable tolerability. So, the more problems you enter treatment with, the more steps you’ll likely need. The bottom line of the study is that over the four acute treatment steps, 67 percent of the patients achieved remission. The lead study investigator commented that it was a pretty good overall outcome, but it assumed that everyone stays in treatment as long as it takes to reach remissionit assumed no dropouts. Long-Term Outlook: Remission Elusive The most important finding from the follow-up phase of the study, is that the more steps a patient has to take to be well enough to go into follow-up, the worse the longer-term prognosis is. For example, he said, after six months of follow-up, about 65 percent of patients who entered follow-up from step 1 remained well (while about 35 percent had relapsed). In contrast, at the six-month follow-up, only about 53 percent of patients from step 2 remained well, compared with less than 40 percent of those from either step 3 or step 4. The study investigators remarked that this was very discouraging. After working hard through multiple steps, the patient is finally well enough to enter follow-up, then the medication that got them well enough to begin with doesn’t keep them well over the longer-term. Now there is a second issueof not being able to keep the patient well. So, the take-home message, is that a positive longer-term prognosis for patients with depression is dependent on achieving and sustaining full remission, regardless of how many treatment steps it takes to get there. It also told the investigators that psychiatrists must be more vigilant with patients who are in follow-up, especially [with] those who have required several steps to get there. For me personally, I was rescued from the grips of depression, thanks to a new FDA approved procedure called vagus nerve stimulation. It is a ninety-minute out-patient procedure and I continue to “enjoy” the benefits of this remarkable, medical breakthrough treatment. For more information visit http://www.VagusNerveStimulation.com Charles Donovan was a patient in the FDA investigational trial of vagus nerve stimulation as a treatment for chronic or recurrent treatment-resistant depression. He was implanted with the vagus nerve stimulator in April of 2001. He chronicles his journey from the grips of depression thanks to vagus nerve stimulation therapy in his book: Out of the Black Hole: The Patient’s Guide to Vagus Nerve Stimulation and Depression His all inclusive book prepares depression sufferers to make an informed decision about this ninety-minute out-patient procedure. It is a “must read” before you discuss this treatment with your psychiatrist. A prescription for the procedure is required from an M.D. and it is covered by most insurance plans. Winnie the Pooh and You at the Tradeshow?

By Susan Friedmann At first glance, theres no connection between Disneys Winnie the Pooh and tradeshows. The same is true of Piglet, Tigger, and the rest of the gang. What could this cuddly group of childhood favorites possibly teach us about exhibiting? Surprisingly, quite a bit. There are some very strong similarities between Winnie the Pooh and the other inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Woods and many tradeshow exhibitors. Dont believe me? Take a look and see how many of your staffers you recognize: Winnie the Pooh Pooh Bear may be cute, cuddly and approachable — but hes also got one thing on his mind. What makes this roly poly bear happy? Honey, of course! Hes obsessed with the golden sweet — when hes not enjoying a meal, hes in search of the next smackerel to fill his rumbly-tummy. A Pooh-style booth staffer is hungry. He might be talking to attendees, but hes thinking about lunch. If someone walks by with a sandwich, his eyes are instantly drawn to it. Scents from the food court get his nostrils quivering. When he gets a chance to eat, he takes it: even if that means eating in the booth! Piglet Piglet is a very small animal, made even more timid when confronted with unfamiliar surroundings, loud noises, bright colors, and crowds. His reaction? Why, to run and hide under the bed, of course, or behind his good friend Pooh. A Piglet-style staffer may be naturally shy or someone who is easily overwhelmed. Their reaction, inspired by fear, is to fade into the back of the booth and hope no one notices them. More often than not, they get their wish — which is good for them, but bad for your bottom line. Owl Owl is an exceedingly well educated bird. Hes got a brain just cram-packed full of facts and figures — and he wants you to know it. No tidbit of information is too small to escape his attention, nor to avoid being retold to anyone who will listen. If you have an Owl-style staffer, you might count yourself lucky. After all, she knows EVERYTHING! However, watch your Owl in action. Their overwhelming compulsion to show off their knowledge can easily alienate attendees and send them in search of a salesperson who knows how to listen. Rabbit Rabbit is the busiest creature in the Hundred Acre Woods. Hes always rushing around: planting seeds over here, pulling weeds over there, chasing crows and watering daffodils. There are a million and one tasks required to keep his beloved garden blooming, and theyre all very important. You can always tell a Rabbit-style staffer. Theyre the ones with a cell phone constantly in their ear, fingers flying over the keyboard as they check e-mails or text message the home office. Theyre so obviously busy taking care of business that they cant be bothered with trivial distractions — like talking to show attendees! Tigger Tigger is full of energy. He bounces around, springing from one thing that catches his attention to the next. Full of laughs, high spirits and infectious energy, Tiggers are a lot of fun to have around. Put Tigger at a tradeshow, however, and you might have a problem. Enthusiasm and high energy can attract traffic to your exhibit, but without some focus and control (concepts foreign to most Tigger-types) theres no way to capitalize on your crowds. At this point, you might be feeling a little like Eeyore — down in the dumps. After all, with a booth full of Poohs, Piglets, Owls, Rabbits & Tiggers, your chances for success are looking pretty slim. Dont despair! The hero of the Hundred Acre Woods is on his way! Christopher Robin The human companion to Winnie the Pooh and all of his furry friends, Christopher Robin encompasses the best traits of all five and adds a crucial element: perspective and understanding of how things actually work. A Christopher Robin-style staffer combines Owls knowledge, Tiggers enthusiasm and Poohs approachability with an understanding and appreciation for the tradeshow attendee. They realize the importance of giving all their attention to their visitor, setting aside the cell phone, the lap top –even the sandwich! — to focus on whats really important. Every exhibitor needs to have a Christopher Robin on their team, preferably more than one. Nows the time to take a look at your team. How many Christopher Robins do you have? How many Poohs? Piglets? Tiggers? What can you do to change the makeup in your Hundred Acre Woods? (Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Owl, Eeyore, Rabbit, Christopher Robin and the Hundred Acre Woods are all Disney) Written by Susan A. Cell Phone Selection for Teens

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ray_Malone]Ray Malone Your teen by now is probably looking to have a cell phone. Teen cell phone usage is growing. One third of all teen or tweens are carrying a cell phone. As a parent you need to decide if a cell phone is the right choice. Most teens are out and about, making a cell phone a good choice for you and for them. You can use the phone as a way of keeping curfew. Or, you may choose to receive a picture mail from your teen after they arrive at an event. Parents are often worried about costly bills coming from teen cell phone usage. All of the following features of plans can cost you: Extra minutes text messages, email, Internet usage, picture mail, and ring tones. There are many choices of plan that may fit into you or your teen’s budget. If overuse is a concern you may consider a TracFone or other types of prepaid wireless plans. Your teen will have all of the features of a standard cell phone, without the costly features. With prepaid plans you will need to help your teen learn how to manage their remaining cell phone minutes. However, your teen should be responsible enough to manger their own cell phone usage. Paying for phones and service is another choice you will need to make. By making your teen responsible for the bill you may be able to help them control their own usage naturally. Several plans exist that may or may not meet you needs. You can select a Stand Alone Plan where your teen will have their own phone, plan, and bill. You can control the number of minutes they have in this plan, but not prevent them from going over. However, you can view their usage each month on a bill or online, including dialed numbers. Add A Phone Plan consists of adding a phone to your line. In a lot of cases you can do so with little cost and may even get a free cell phone for your teen. Picking free phone for a teen may be a challenge due to cell phone styles. This is where you may decide to allow them to pay for which ever phone they may want. You teen will be using your minutes within your shared plan. This option does not prevent over usage. Prepaid Plans allow you to select a phone that does not require a service contract. These phone come with the same features, but are not tied to an account. To use the cell phone you or you teen must purchase minutes. The minutes may be managed to talk or to use features like email and text messaging. The only downfall to this option is the cost of each purchase minute. When selecting a plan you will want to keep the following in mind: What is the basic monthly charge? How many anytime minutes are included? How many free night and weekend minutes are included? What is per minute airtime rate if included minutes are exceeded? What is the long distance charge? (most now include long distance) Are there roaming charges when you are outside your local area? If so, how much per minute? What are the hours per day for peak versus off-peak minutes? What is the charge for text messages, email, internet, and picture mail? What is the length of time for the contract if any? Can you make changes to the plan during the contract period? What is the cost of termination during the contract period? Is insurance available on the phone. (protect your teen cell phone from damage) about the author: This article may be used as long as the author information and link are retained. Serving

By Mellody Davis Some people may ask how do we serve God and am I serving God correctly? Well lets look at what the Bible says about serving God. Lets start by knowing what a Blessing it is to serve him. Look at the Book of John 10:27 it says My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Fathers hand I and the Father are one. Now look at Jude 20 verse it says But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in you most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in Gods love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fearhating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. Jesus wants us to be a living sacrifices. Look at Romans12:1 it says Therefore I urge you, brothers, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this word, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will. Now look a verse 14 it says Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends but leave room for Gods wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. Take a look at Ephesians 4:11 it says It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare Gods people for work of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Now living as children of the light. It tells us at Ephesians 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves of the sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off you old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you. Now look at Colossians 3:23 it says Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. Take a look at 2Timothy 2:1 it says You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.. And the things you have heard me say in presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairshe wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victors crown unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. Now take a look at 1Timothy 1:18 it says Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith. Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme. Look at 1Corinthians 1:4 it says There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. It says in the book of Philippians 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. In conclusion, look at what Jesus said in the book of John 15:15 it says I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruitfruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other.
